Empowering Our Community

Hours:
By appointment through the winter.
Spring hours: Saturdays 9am-Noon tentatively starting in March
We are excited to once again serve our community!
A new Board of Directors and Executive Director is in place. The team is working to obtain grants, sort through previous donations, and get the building repaired. We had regular hours June through October 2024. However, due to no heat in the building, we are only open by request in the cold weather months. For appointment requests, please reach out to us on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/ChautauquaCountySamaritanHouse
or to the Volunteering contacts below.
To stay viable, we need your help!

Our Story
A Distinct Mission
Since 2004, Chautauqua County Samaritan House has been dedicated to supporting and empowering the underprivileged in our rural area.
Major Samuel Sinclear founded Sinclairville, New York in 1809 as "Sinclearville." Sinclairville was incorporated in 1887 and calls itself "The Heart of Chautauqua County." The 2020 census showed the population of Sinclairville at 578 and the population of Chautauqua County at 127,657.
Our building was publicly dedicated on September 25, 1845 as the First Congregational Church and Society. 100 years later, the property was sold to the Methodist Episcopal Church of Sinclairville where they worshipped for the next 56 years. In 2001, the now Park Methodist Church outgrew the building and in 2004 Samaritan House was organized.
